The grand opening Jan. 27 for the Fajita Factory restaurant in Boystown attracted more than 200 people, including 100 within the first 45 minutes.
The event "surpassed our expectations," said John Dalton, of the D.S. Fajita Factory management team. "I knew that, when you offer your menu for free, there would be interest in the event. However, the amount of people who came up to personally thank me and the staff for such an amazing event and quality of food made me beam from ear to ear. We also received very kind reviews online regarding this event.
"One customer commented, 'I can be a tough critic, but this place is terrific and going to do really well. (I) came in yesterday for the grand opening and it was so good my friends and I did take-out tonight, (which) also was excellent.'"
The grand opening featured an appearance by artist Greg Werm.
"I am just in love with the murals on and within the building (by Werm) who is so talented," Dalton said.
Werm airbrushed t-shirts for guests at the grand opening.
Located at 3445 N. Halsted Street, Fajita Factory is a 1,200 square-foot restaurant with seating for 40, plus another 40 on the patio (weather permitting).
Fajita Factory – with a bright, colorful interior and exterior – brings a Latin Pop Music and Latin American Crossover vibe, with song from such artists as Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Camila Cabello, Gypsy Kings, and others.
Fajita Factory is energetic, yet comfortable.
"We hope Fajita Factory appeals to everyone. The food is approachable and affordable, fun for friends and family," Dalton told ChicagoPride.com.
The Fajita Factory menu is a team effort with chefs from D.S. Tequila Co, Stu Zirin and Dusty Carpenter.
Fajita Factory will kick off a weekend brunch over the next few months.
Dalton said Fajita Factory has major plans in the works for St. Patrick's Day, National Empanada Day, National Fajita Day and Cinco de Mayo, and others.
