DIFFERENCE IN YOU: An Attitude of Gratitude

I was thinking today how much I appreciate my friends! Sometimes without saying a thing they encourage me and remind me how special and cared for I am. Let's face it; we all need to have that kind of support!

I was also thinking how lucky I am to have my loving Mom and Dad in my life! They are such a joy and pleasure to be around. Not a day goes by that I don't think of them and thank God for their support, teaching, and friendship.

I'm also extremely grateful for this website and all it offers to the LGBT community! Multiple times a day I log on to read the latest weblog or article. I enjoy the various columns and event listings too. We are damn luck that such a resource exists in our community.

Isn't it wonderful how many things we can find to be grateful for! I think that attitude of gratitude is something we have to really strive for in our lives. It's easy to get bogged down with complaints and gripes. When one person gets talking about their groans; another person will often chime in with theirs.

Perhaps if we make a Commitment to ourselves to stop in the middle of the day and write down three things we are grateful for it will propel us to look for those positive things in our lives. Think about it; if we have to meet that daily goal we will actively seek those positive moments and blessed items we often overlook.

How about starting today!? It's simple, take out a piece of paper or enter it into your Blackberry; three things that you're grateful for. I think you'll find that you have more than you realize!
