Emmy Award-winning documentary series We're Here struts into season three on HBO Max. Three previous RuPaul Drag Race contestants Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O'Hara and Shangela Laquifa Wadley have teamed up once again to travel around the United States and support people in their drag performance journey. In the process, they meet a wide variety of characters while overcoming obstacles.

The first season ran into COVID challenges by the end and the second season returned to Spartanburg, South Carolina in 2021. This third season premiered on November 25, 2022, and kicked off in Granbury, Texas.

These three queer experts continue to explore tough territories such as St. George, Utah and have surprises right in their backyard of New Jersey by episode four of the latest season. Their trips to small towns are anything but boring as they continue to show residents that they are not alone.

The audience can witness an individual celebrated for having top surgery and a parent encouraged by their children to pursue the art of drag. Break out the tissues as this series contains emotional moments that will surely resonate with viewers.

A sparkling sense of humor is displayed throughout We're Here while dealing with many tough subjects. Drag queens are strangely under attack these days by some religious groups saying they are a bad influence on children. Protesters have stirred up new controversy and that is firmly addressed on this reality show, which only elevates the point of having the queens meet the population where they live.

We're Here doesn't shy away from current hot topics such as pronouns, hate speech and politics. Some may be triggered by the complex conversations that are covered over the course of an episode but everything is always handled professionally with the patience of a therapist. We're Here brings a safe space right to a person's doorstep and that can be very comforting.

The show took home trophies for both Outstanding Costumes and Outstanding Makeup for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program in 2022. The same year it was nominated for a third Emmy in Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program. I spoke with O'Hara early on during the airing of the first season and they hoped for an Emmy, a second season and new conversations about drag. Luckily, all three came true!

The loyal fans of We're Here are hoping for a season four renewal but in the meantime, they have season three to be unveiled. Everyone has a story to tell and spectators can see the individual grow while working up to a public performance in drag. The format of We're Here mixes personal stories, makeovers and life lessons all together to heal the subject thanks to this trio of experts.
