Billy Dec is not one to sit around. The two-time Emmy Award winner launched the Asian fusion restaurant Sunda in 2009 to big success and can usually be spotted at his newest location in Nashville, Tennessee.

It was no wonder that his Undergound dance club at 56 W. Illinois Street would eventually expand to more than DJ parties and bottle service. He has always had a side area down the hall from the hyperactive club, but he has brightened the place up and revamped the decor.

Usually a dark and private space for events, The Cocktail Club is taking over with a new vibe and retro feel. Inspired by 1920s entertainment and style, this present-day hot spot has a great deal to offer. Designed by an all-female team called PROjECT, red light umbrellas adorn the ceiling and leafy plants are strategically placed below around the latest furniture.

A small live stage opens up from a curtain behind the bar area where performers can strut their stuff in this swanky venue.

Friend of Dec, singer Macy Gray did a pop-up show both nights of opening weekend at The Cocktail Club.

One of the original club kids Jojo Baby and drag artists Debbie Fox also joined the festivities for the weekend to kick things off. Flappers, feathers and dancers were all part of the fun.

Special martinis and a light appetizer menu accompanied the friendly bar staff. The shrimp cocktail prawns were huge and delicious. The sliders were on the chewy side, which was a surprise from the group after serving burgers at Rockit Bar & Grill in the past.

The romantic lighting and atmosphere the team has created bodes well for the newly adjusted Cocktail Club. Private parties and exclusive performances in an intimate space will make this area unique and special. Guests can take a trip to the past while enjoying the comforts of the future.
