Founded in 1952, the prestigious Screen Actors Guild Awards recognizes performances in film and television for the previous year. On April 4, 2021 trophies were presented for an hour, instead of two, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California and the show was pre-recorded.
This year, Michael Keaton made history by being the first person to win three awards for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for The Trial of the Chicago 7. He had won for the movies Birdman and Spotlight in the past. Chadwick Boseman set the record for the nominations in a single ceremony and won posthumously for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. Viola Davis also won for that same Netflix film.
Other notables included gay favorite Schitt's Creek as a Comedy Series and Catherine O'Hara as Female Actor playing Moira Rose in the same series. Other winners included Mark Ruffalo in I Know This Much Is True on HBO and three Netflix series with Anya Taylor-Joy in The Queen's Gambit, Jason Bateman on Ozark and Gillian Anderson for portraying Margaret Thatcher on The Crown.
The popular restaurant Cooper's Hawk Winery created an Artist's Red Blend wine exclusively for their wine club members presented in a box that contained snacks such as candied bacon wine chips and Garrett S'mores Popcorn. Delicious Vosages Chocolates were also in the gold box for the home viewing members to enjoy as dessert.
Cooper's Hawk Executive Chef Matt McMillin was the official chef of the Sag Awards and stowed some eye-popping recipes inside the gift box for those that love to cook.
Everyone who took home the exclusive watch box was a winner that night, thanks to elegant snacks and an unforgettable original red wine.
