Baconfest turned 11 years old this year in Chicago raising more money than ever before. The UIC Dorin Forum packed in the hungry crowds on April 5 and 6 with bacon dishes from more than 150 chefs.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository stood outside the venue to accept donations and held a raffle on site. Over the years, 20,000 pounds of food has been donated and over $480,000 has been raised.

The VIP experience is the only way to go as the line snaked around the building to enter the later time slot. Three sessions gave ticket holders quite a variety of restaurants to sample.

On Friday night those who bought the VIP were able to try bacon ramen from Mike Satinover from Akahoshi Ramen. It's all about the perks!

Best Front of House Presentation for Saturday lunch was presented to Rack House Kitchen & Tavern thanks to an eye popping set up and pig costumes.

That day Most Creative Use of Bacon was given to Davanti Enoteca. Guests had to search to find them in the corner but it paid off for those that did.

If you haven't had a chance to check out Chicago's massive Baconfest then start making plans for the 12th annual edition in 2020 by visiting BaconFestChicago.com.

Even days later the bacon is still settling in my stomach!
