Look out there's a new lobster in town. Luke's Lobster opened a new location at 134 N. La Salle St. in the Merchanise Mart on Sept. 19.
With such huge lobsters there is a big responsibility and Luke's maintains that. There are size restrictions on the Maine lobsters, and pregnant ones are thrown back. Special traps allow smaller critters to escape and not be squashed by the big fellas.
There is a quota for the Eastern Canada fishery so the annual catch is limited and the same case with clams and only licensed clammers are permitted. While it may seem like a lot of rules this definitely pays off in a product they can be proud of.
The food is really fresh and the lobster roll was humongous with scraps falling out it was so stuffed.
The clam chowder was a highlight and watch the soups changed seasonally for variety. The wild blue salad I had tried at another location and it was nice mix of ingredients such as blueberries and white beans.
National Lobster Day is Sept. 25 so swing by for the special including a lobster roll, tail and chowder for $25.
Just say, "Lobstah, lobstah, lobstah!"
Visit the new location with hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information visit www.LukesLobster.com.
