Since its founding in 1974, Landmark repeatedly has brought creative and thought provoking cinema to the masses. In Chicago Landmarks Century Centre Cinema is located at 2828 N. Clark St.

From avante-garde films to Oscar winning underground hits this place houses some rare gems that the larger theaters do not.

A few of the current selections at Landmark might be a little too artsy for their own good such is the case with Mother!

Everyone jumped on board most likely because Darren Aronofsky directed the piece that ultimately will frustrate many audience members. Jennifer Lawrence is tortured in fascinating ways that may hit home to some females. It is a welcome return to see the dazzling Michelle Pfeiffer on the screen in such an unpredictable role. It is better to see this film for the rollercoaster ride that it is without knowing anything ahead of time.

Some culturally important films include The Big Sick that depicts the relationship of a Pakistani comedian with an American grad student. Ray Romano and Holly Hunter bring experience to the table and show the world how it is done.

The upcoming Victoria and Abdul just warmed my heart with the sweet friendship between Queen Victoria and Indian servant Abdul Karim. Give Judi Dench another Academy Award and Ali Fazal is so adorable it is no wonder her character falls for him.

Reeling, the LGBT film festival has several new films showing at Landmark such as Behind the Curtain: Todrick Hall on Sept. 25 at 9:30 p.m. It's a riveting doc that follows the YouTube sensation's adventures so make sure to plan a trip to check it out on the big screen.
