On Sunday April 30th Frontera celebrated its 30th anniversary at the Art Institute of Chicago.

The evening began with chef icon Rick Bayless reminiscing in front of a packed auditorium about his early days. What started off as writing a book with his wife Deann turned into a culinary advernture of a lifetime.

His Mexican inspired art has won him many awards over the years in an empire that continues to expand.

A food forum followed led by radio host Peter Sagal. Paul Kaham talked about local sourcing then put his money where his mouth was by feeding tons of guests afterwards. After the announcements and forum everyone moved into the Modern Wing grabbing a margarita on the way.

The space became a little cramped with so many vendors on both sides of the narrow room. It was well worth the trouble to grab samples from so many delicious artists.

Stephanie Izard is one of the hardest working chefs in the city and was on hand to set out samples of goodness. Hot Chocolate was a stand out for desserts to try.

This event brought much deserved attention to Bayless' projects and his mission to spotlight farmers in this field.
