There are four shows currently running Chicago to take in for theater audiences.

Strangest Things! The Musical plays off the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. For those not familiar with the science fiction show it is set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana in the '80s. After the disappearance of a little boy some local friends go in search and discover a psychokinetic girl that helps them along in their journey.

Random Acts' premieres the musical version smartly using songs from the time period in humorous parodies. Molly Lecaptain as Juice Byers is a stand out as well as Christian Siebert in drag as Barb.

For people that don't watch the television show expect to be lost including finding their seats with smoke pumped in before the show.

This production turns out the lights on May 13 at Greenhouse Theater Center.

Threesome by The Other Theatre Company also is playing at Greenhouse Theater at 2257 N. Lincoln Avenue.

An Egyptian American couple try to spice up their love life by inviting a guest into their bedroom. Hilarious moments ensue and will make watchers examine their own insecurities. The second half grows more serious with a tough ending to see. There is one weak link in the cast that holds the piece back unfortunately.

Be a voyeur through May 21 with tickets at theothertheatrecompany.com.

Two performers that are more evenly matched are Bethany Thomas and Austin Cook for the Sondheim vehicle Marry Me a Little . Porchlight Music Theatre brings a show that can compete with many of the big dog theater company around town.

From the simple set to the on point staging this will be a show worth seeking out through May 21. Head over to Stage 773 at 1225 West Belmont Avenue to listen to a little night music.

For more over the top entertainment hop on a margic carpet ride at the Cadillac Palace for Aladdin . With a lenthy run until September 10 Broadway In Chicago presents a spectacular musical. There is so much going on that it is a visual overload of spectacle at times.

The dancers are talented, the genie played by Anthony Murphy is hilarious, and the music is fun. Shirtless men with bright costumes fill out the stage and the humor is light.

This is a show the whole family can enjoy including your gay family thanks to out writer Chad Beguelin.
