BBQ Until You Drop at Pork Shoppe

Located on the edge of Andersonville at 5721 North Clark Street, Pork Shoppe is quickly building a following. A bit away from the shopping district this building has gone from bellydancers to fish and now ribs over the years. Let's hope this one sticks to the bones for a bit.

This is the second offering for this restaurant group with the other being at 2755 W. Belmont. You can almost smell the smoked meats a mile away where I and many other local residents live. Being a little north from the congested Swedish neighborhood seems to finally work well because the Bears have sniffed out the sauce and seem to feel right at home when I visited.

Their brunch business is growing and with a brisket bourbon bloody Mary it is no wonder. That runs from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday with an industry Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for those workers that want to day drink on their day off.

The hot Toddy with lemon juice and bourbon cleaned out my cold right away and warmed my Nunn's soul.

So all you might need is Mary and Todd to keep you happy but there is more...

This spot has recently revamped their menu and here is what we found: Diners now pick 1/2 or 1/4 pound combos of pulled brisket, chicken, pork, beef tri tips, or pastrami then add two sides. There are also ribs in three varieties. The combos can be brought out on trays for festive groups to try.

The mac & cheese and potato salad were stand outs in the sides. The bread could have more variety than just buns though. Texas toast is my fav with pulled pork. We wanted to try all the three of the sauces sitting on the table in smaller portions of bread so maybe Hawaiian bun size could be an option instead.

Sauces included sweet, tangy, and spicy with the tart & tangy being a stand out.

Finish things off with dessert from First Slice brought in from down the street. This place wants to support our community and it shows.

Socially the trivia night on Wednesday must be a hoot and holler. Starting at 7:00 p.m. make a team and win gift cards while doing shots and wracking your brain!
