One of the most frequent questions I get asked by people is, how can I meet quality people. Often that is regarding a potential mate, but sometimes I'm asked regarding friends.

Social media like Tinder, Grindr, and Facebook are often the way folks go about meeting a possible girlfriend or boyfriend. These online mediums are quick and easy to navigate. Perhaps that's part of the challenge. They are done, not face to face, but rather profile to profile. We lose a bunch in the translation of what we want to see and show; by not experiencing in-person connection.

The saying 'you get what you pay for' comes to mind. If we want to meet a quality friend or significant other, we really ought not to rush that. Quick meaningless connections end just as soon as they begin, and yet we wonder why we can't find mister or misses right. Relationships take time. Friendships take history. Plain and simple. They also require us to step out and start the conversation.

If we've been operating via social media to make our connections, the challenge to us all is to get out of our self-imposed safety net and actually take ownership of our connections. Let us look for quality people to involve in our lives.

Let's be excellent people for others. Those are the most rewarding relationships.
