Gearing up for Pride

BY Andrew ("Drink to life!")

Hey readers,

Hope everyone liked my last column on how to make a pride flag appear with alcohol. How long before it all blurs together is anyone’s guess.

I have gotten several e-mails from people preparing for Pride. So let the ideas begin and please feel free to e-mail me with questions and ideas. 1st off: disposable cups for the day. No question about that so get stocked up. I previously posted an article about a party where we bought large bottles of mixers- cranberry juice, soda, tonic, etc- and then bought those little bottles of unusual liquors. Having a large gin, large vodka, beer, wine, and then some small bottles of various liquors on hand should get you set for the day.

If you are hosting brunch, Mimosas and Bloody Marys are always favorites. I have a personal favorite add-on – Bellinis. Bellinis are ¾ champagne and ¼ peach puree. They sell peach liquor also; schnapps will work in a pinch.

I feel garnish is a key factor to your offering- limes, lemons, olives, celery for the bloody mary. Make it look like you put thought into your setup and variety.
