So I recently was asked this question. "What about beer, wine, soda and one featured mixed drink? Something cool and fun and it would be the only hard liquor we buy." Good question. My answer was that I have seen it work but not for the entire party. People drink what they want to drink. They've tried a cosmo or some other mixed drink just to see what they taste like. Unless the taste knocks them off their feet, they will want to switch to their usual drink. What happens then is you have a lot of specific liquors left over rather than a standard variety.

I think featured drinks are fun; I love trying something new. I'm just stressing the word 'try'. Don't expect that people will drink the new drink as their drink for the night.
