Since June 7th is Global Running Day, we wanted to get the scoop on the best running trails in Chicago. We brought in the big guns for this one, calling on Proud To Run Chicago to help us come up with a list of favorite running trails.
In addition to being our running experts, we needed to spotlight their huge hearts: Proud to Run is the city's original Pride 5K/10K run and walk that raises funds to support the area's LGBT community.
Oh, and when they sent their photos with their top picks for running trails, we really thought about naming this feature "Chicago's HOTTEST runners." But, yeah, we're here to learn something related to Global Running Day, so we kept the original title instead.
The 36th annual Proud to Run Chicago event takes place during Chicago's Gay and Lesbian Pride Week on June 24th. Register for the race by clicking here.

Montrose Beach Track & Cricket Hill
First on the list is the Montrose Beach Track. Spreading through Chicago's northern lakefront, this trail is a favorite according to Proud To Run Sponsorship Committee Director, Eric Seelbach.
"If you incorporate speed workout in your training, the track is well maintained and close to the Lakefront running path," Eric tells us.
"Cricket Hill is also right next to the track and one of the few hills in the city," he adds.
The 606
Running along the Wicker Park neighborhood, the nearly 3-mile path has become a favorite for runners and bicyclists.
Ty McCarthy, Proud To Run Co-Director says, "the elevated path gives you a unique look at the city."
Lakefront Trail, Edgewater
"Even though it's the same route, it’s different every time," Proud To Run Co-Director Justin Koziatek says about this Edgewater trail near his home.
Koziatek adds, "the lake and downtown views are an added bonus."
Frontrunners Totem Pole Path
A favorite trail that extends along Chicago's amazing lakefront, Proud To Run Marketer John Avila tells us he really enjoys "the beautiful view of the city skyline and lake early in the morning or after a long day at work is always refreshing."
Proud To Run Marketer Mike Link enjoys this course that takes you on a gorgeous run around the city's downtown Magnificent Mile, Gold Coast and the Wicker Park areas.
"This route includes a nice mix of different parts of the city," he says, "including the new riverwalk, the lakefront path and covers quite a few neighborhoods."
