For the first time in Illinois, same-sex couples across the state will be able to marry.

Forty couples, both straight and same-sex, walked down the aisle as part of a historic group wedding ceremony in Chicago Sunday to honor marriage equality in Illinois.

Jason Collins, Tom Daley, Michael Sam, Robbie Rogers, Darren Young, Megan Rapinoe and Caitlin Cahow are among the openly gay professional athletes featured in a YouTube video celebrating equality for all athletes.

As Illinois celebrates the official commencement of marriage equality today, dozens of LGBT leaders and allies called out Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner for his public opposition to marriage equality.

Within minutes of PrideFest Milwaukee's gates opening, U.S. District Court Judge Barbara Crabb ruled that Wisconsin's ban against same-sex marriage "violates the plaintiffs' fundamental right to marry and their right to equal protection of laws under the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution."

Cook County Clerk David Orr announced Monday that his office has issued nearly 1,800 marriage licenses to same-sex couples since Feb 21.

Same-sex couples rushed to courthouses in Dane and Milwaukee counties on June 6 following a federal judge's ruling that the state's ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional.

The Chicago District will hold a local dedication of the new Harvey Milk Forever stamp, prior to the "State of the LGBTQ Union Forum" at the Center on Halsted.

Meghan McCain, the daughter of Arizona Senator John McCain, is among those who on Monday were named to GLAAD's National Board of Directors.
