Burbank, CA - The $282 million box-office mega-smash and No. 1 thriller of the year, Hollywood Pictures' and Spyglass Entertainment's "The Sixth Sense," appears on VHS and DVD on March 28, 2000.

The supernatural thriller, featuring international superstar Bruce Willis ("Armageddon," "The Siege") and, in a breakthrough performance, Academy Award(R) Actor nominee Haley Joel Osment ("Forrest Gump"), is expected to be one of the biggest titles of the year to go to the rental and the DVD markets. The film also will be available in a Spanish subtitled version on VHS. The DVD will be priced at $29.99 (SRP). Pre-book is Feb. 29.

"The Sixth Sense" explodes onto DVD featuring exciting supplemental bonus materials that include a conversation with the film's Academy Award(R) nominated director M. Night Shyamalan, music and sound design, storyboard-to-film comparisons, deleted scenes and an extended ending, among others elements. Talent interviews will be included on the DVD version. The VHS and DVD both include a special "Rules & Clues" segment, an on-camera discussion by the filmmakers revealing secrets of the film's story line.

"The outstanding performances, critical acclaim, including the recently announced Academy Award(R) nominations, an incredible, edge-of-your-seat story, and the terrific word-of-mouth all contributed to `The Sixth Sense's' success," said Mitch Koch, general manager, Buena Vista Home Entertainment. "With all these components and the supplemental programming we are adding to the VHS and DVD versions, this release is poised to break records in the DVD business."

A chilling excursion into the eerie world of the unexplained and supernatural, "The Sixth Sense" features international superstar Bruce Willis in one of his most critically acclaimed roles, and talented youngster Haley Joel Osment. The film also boasts outstanding performances by Academy Award(R) nominee Toni Collette ("Muriel's Wedding"), Olivia Williams ("The Postman") and Donnie Wahlberg ("Ransom").

In this spine-tingling, psychological thriller that has enraptured audiences, eight-year-old Cole Sear (Osment) is haunted by a dark secret -- he sees dead people. A reluctant channel, Cole is frightened by visitations from those who appear from the shadows with unresolved problems. Confused by his paranormal powers, Cole is too young to understand his purpose, and too afraid to tell anyone about his anguish, except child psychologist Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Willis). As Dr. Crowe uncovers the ominous truth about Cole's supernatural abilities, the consequences for client and therapist are a jolt that awakens them both to something harrowing -- and unexplainable.

"The Sixth Sense" was produced by powerhouse veterans Frank Marshall ("Indiana Jones" trilogy, "The Color Purple"), Kathleen Kennedy ("E.T. The Extraterrestrial," "Jurassic Park") and Barry Mendel ("Rushmore"), and directed by Academy Award(R) nominee M. Night Shyamalan ("Wide Awake").

"The Sixth Sense" is available on VHS in Digitally Mastered Hi Fi Stereo Sound and on DVD in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround. The DVD version will be presented in a dual-layer format in widescreen (1.85:1), and will be enhanced for 16x9 televisions. The film will be closed-captioned for the hearing impaired and is rated "PG-13" by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).
