Chicago, IL -
The predicted snow storm has arrived and is moving across the Chicago area.
A slow, steady accumulation of snow is expected, said National Weather Service meteorologist Andrew Krein. Approximately an inch an hour is anticipated.
"We're not looking for those heavy bursts. It's just not that dynamic of a system," he said. "It's just going to snow for a long time."
By the time the current winter storm warning expires Friday morning, from 7 to 12 inches of snow is predicted, with possibly even a couple more inches along the lake in the northern suburbs and in northwest Indiana. The only bright spot was it was expected to be of the light, fluffy variety, not the heavy, wet kind that induces snow-shoveling heart attacks.
