Naming new condo building for Chuck Renslow was an 'easy decision' says developer
Chicago, IL -
The developer behind the new Andersonville condo building to be named after Chuck Renslow, the LGBTQ businessman and gay rights pioneer who opened Man's Country in 1973, has released a rendering of the new nine-unit structure to be built at 5019 N. Clark.
Designed by Northworks Architects + Planners, "The Renslow" will be a four-story brick and glass building with commercial space on the street level, three stories of condos and a rooftop space.
Quest Realty Group bought the Man's Country site for just under $2.2 million from Renslow's estate, according to Crain's Chicago Business. Renslow died June 29 at age 87.
Naming the building for Renslow was an "easy decision," Quest principal Jason Vondrachek, said. "Chuck was out front and center before a lot of people were comfortable with that aspect of their lives being shared. We wanted to honor what he did."
The historic gay bathhouse closed its doors after 44 years on Jan. 1.
