Scene and be Seen

Chicago, IL - This old bitch is still recovering from the biggest thing to hit Halsted St. in eons. Sunday September 7th saw the rebirth of House music in Chicago as Frankie Knuckles packed Hydrate Nightclub and proceeded to work pussies into a new form of wetness. A fabulously mixed crowd, industry who's who's, friends old and new all came out to breath life onto the corner of Cornelia & Halsted. Oh, and did we mention the music was ferocious? Frankie, Mark, and Rodney…thank you for giving us a reason to live.

Frankie at Hydrate seemed to make up for the lack-luster weekend that Chicago had over Labor Day weekend. Wasn't there a time when Labor Day was one of the Gay High Holidays on a calendar? Lord, we hope that Crobar opens up soon so we don't have to drudge through another dull 3-day weekend again. Speak of the bar-Cro, we hear a date of sometime by the end of this month or next with a new Sunday name. Seems GLEE will be put to rest only to be resurrected as ANTHEM Chicago. Whatever! It will always be GLEE to me and it will always be legendary no matter what ya call it! Labor Day weekend did host the Zentra 4-year anniversary party though. Lego, Cedric and Sativa threw down guest sets in celebration of this event. Has anyone seen Sauci Bernaise lately? Apparently my cousin, the dearest Sauci, is still on a beach in Sao' Paulo getting a tan, mud wrap and hair fuse. Me hearest that she will be jumping off a plane soon back in sweet home Chicago with a bigger, badder and hotter appearance than ever before. Stay tuned for more details.

The Gramercy at 2438 N. Lincoln seems to be a new haunt for the hip crowd. John Curly and company give Friday nights a fun beat on Fridays while Luis M (one of my favorites), Jim Belanger and Eric Daly present WET on Tuesdays. Chris Gin has been keeping busy giving Chicago many new and exciting things about which to speak: He's bringing Re-mixer Alex Peace to Big Wig and September 11th, and the LocalSound crew to the Metro on October 8th. Also coming up this month: September 13th brings Mark Anthony to Circuit for a night of ferosh sounds. Transit seems to be racking it up with Derrick Carter on the 18th and James Zabiela on the 25th as part of the Hooj Choons world tour. That's it for now, and remember kids: Douching regularly helps to get rid of that "not so fresh" feeling.
