A man was shot this morning during a robbery in the West Lakeview neighborhood.
At about 1:24 a.m., the man was walking in the 3500 block of North Janssen Avenue where he was approached in an alley by an unknown suspect who demanded his property, said Chicago News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines. The suspect shot the victim in his abdomen, Gaines said.
The victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he is described as in stable condition, Gaines said.
The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. The suspect fled the scene with the victim's wallet, police said.
No suspects are in custody. Police are investigating.
