The owners of mEAT are bringing their popular concept restaurant back to Boystown, replacing the nautical-themed Dive Bar, which closed Tuesday after two years in the space at 3345 N. Halsted.
Owner Stu Zirin told DNAinfo the new mEAT location - which will include the well-known skewers and an expanded menu - should be open in late August, just after Northalsted Market Days.
"I can't believe how many people have stopped me to say they're glad it's coming back," Zirin said of mEAT.
mEAT Boystown opened in 2013 and a second location downtown opened in 2014. Both were sold last year.
Zirin, along with John Dalton, own Dive Bar, mEAT and DS Tequila Company, 3352 N. Halsted.
Dive Bar opened in 2014, but struggled to find success.
"Even on a busy Saturday or Friday, the check average couldn't do the numbers, and it didn't make sense for the space," Zirin told DNAinfo. "What I always say in life is that it's unfortunate the test is always before the lesson."
