GLADD: ‘SWERLK is a perfect rallying cry to live your life authentically and proudly.’
Scissor Sisters have come out of hiatus to release a new collaborative track, "SWERLK", with producer MNDR. The song released in celebration of Pride Month honors the 49 lives lost in last year's Pulse Nightclub shooting.
All proceeds from the song go to the Contigo Fund, a charity that benefits survivors of the tragic June 12, 2016 shooting in Orlando, Fla.
"We are glad to support such a great cause," said Jake Shears. "Through music hopefully we can help to bring people together and provide support for the LGBT Latinx community in Orlando."
The track was unveiled as part of a collaboration with LGBT media NGO GLAAD.
Rich Ferraro of GLAAD said: "Music has the power to uplift and unite people and the Scissor Sisters and MNDR have always done that for the LGBTQ community. SWERLK is a perfect rallying cry to live your life authentically and proudly."
