George Joseph Zelichowski, a former Chicago resident and nightlife photographer known professionally as George Saint-George, died Oct. 29 in India.

Zelichowski and his mother Jofiya traveled to India earlier this year and was living in a rented house. According to The Times of India, Zelichowski died of multiple injuries to his lungs, ribs and head after accidentally falling from the first floor balcony of the house in Manjalpur.

The 46-year-old spent many years as a freelance nightlight photographer and columnist for ChicagoPride.com and a number of publications, including Boi Magazine, Gab Magazine and Chicago Social. He was also an estate sales independent auctioneer and online retailer.

On Facebook, Zelichowski described himself as a "bonafide scenester of the night" and mentioned his love for travel, music (especially modern trance), clubbing, fashion, dining and photography.

"George was caring, loyal, and always supportive of me emotionally and creatively," said DJ Greg Haus, a close friend of Zelichowski for over 20 years. "I admired him for living life on his own terms. George was a true friend I could count on in times of crisis and joy. I will miss him terribly."

Zelichowski used the name Saint-George because he was born on All Saints Day, Nov. 1, 1969. He was raised in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan and graduated from Grosse Point North High School in 1987.

Details for a Chicago memorial service are expected to be announced soon. Zelichowski is survived by his mother and brother.
