The 2009 nomination deadline for the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame has been extended to Tuesday Aug. 4.
Nomination forms are available online at www.GLHallofFame.org or by calling (312) 744-7911 and leaving a mailing address.
The Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame is privately funded trough donations and recognizes individuals and organizations for their contributions to Chicago's gay communities and those communities' efforts to work against homophobia and discrimination.
Dozens have been inducted into the hall since its inception in 1991. Chicago is the only known municipality that so honors its gay and lesbian residents.
The 2009 Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame induction ceremony and reception is currently scheduled to be held on Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Chicago Cultural Center, 77 E. Randolph.
