Drama on the Dance Floor

Chicago, IL - Jumping right in, Mark Picciotti is in the studio working on a new Bastoy track called "Turn It Up". Mark's Blue Plate Records looks like it will be picking this release up for an unknown release date at this time. I previously mentioned Billie's new track "It Comes Back Around" on Su Su records. It was just picked up by Nervous Records domestically this past month. Beyonce' releases "Krazy In Love" on Columbia records. Junior Vasquez and Maurice Joshua give unique interpretations of this tune. Colourful Karma Featuring Terra Deva finally release "For The Music" on Dot Dot Dot records. Both Guido and Victor Calderone give mixes that are deep and sexy.

Erick Morillo releases his new mix compilation on Subliminal records called Subliminal Sessions 5. It contains tracks by Robert Owens, Monkey Bars, and E-Funk. Speaking of compilations, the buzz in the dance music scene is the much anticipated Global Underground release coming up from Danny Howells called "24/7". Yoshitoshi and G.U. are keeping tight-lipped on a release date and what tracks are being featured, but it's supposed to be the hit of early fall. James Zabiela from Europe releases his mix compilation called Sound In Motion on Hooj Choons records this month. Highlites on this release are from Aphasia with "Acapulco" and Echomen with "Thru 2 U". The Weekend Players have released a follow up to their #1 track "I'll Be There For You." It's called 'Into The Sun" with re-mixes by Static Revenger, Riva, and Chab. Conjure One (the product of Delirium mastermind Rhys Fulber) puts forth "Center of the Sun" on Nettwerk Records this month. Re-mixes by Junkie XL and 29 Palms (Peter Lorimer) pepper this track and promise a tasty treat.

Digging through the record bag this week I spy some new caa caa to come your way: On Defected, watch for Roland Clark's release called "Planet Rock/Future Planet". It samples the old Afrika Bambatta track "Planet Rock" with a touch of Hype funk that makes it a modern floor filler. Clare Quilty (who?) has a new double pack called "Clare Quilty" (there actually is no title on the damn record, so I assume that's what the name is. Do'h!) Re-mixes from Morel, Smitty & Davenport, and Cruz & Bagz make this a fun release. Sandy Wilhelm & Fred Pellicero release "Triba Nation 1" on Royal Drums. Mary J. Blige's "What God Has Chosen" comes out on a test press from Selected Works. Peter Doyle gives us a house/tribal mix with Mary's slam poetry overlayed that has Red Dog written all over it. Kevin Aviance's "Give It Up" (Emerge/Centaur) was the hit at Victor Calderone's "Jungle" party over Gay Pride in NY this year. Tony Moran delivers a SLAMMIN' mix that is way hot for the kids. And lastly, thanks to Jim Lewis for turning me on to Ageha Featuring Jocelyn Brown & Loleatta Halloway's " A Better World". The AngelStereo mix by Angel Moraes is tribal deep fun. Onto Reviews:
