Lady Gaga: 'I am proud in general and did not mistake anything'

Any confusion aside, Lady Gaga undoubtedly meant well when she posted a photo of herself on Instagram with a gay pride message.

"Watching over Chicago Pride from my apartment and smiling so big," she wrote. "So many happy people. Happy pride!! #lovewins."

The "Born This Way" singer added, "This is just about the coolest things I ever saw. It feels good to know how many of my friends and loved ones are out celebrating and feeling valued. #lovewins."

The thing is, Gaga wasn't technically 'watching over' Chicago Pride. The Chicago Pride Parade took place Sunday in the Uptown and Lakeview neighborhoods. Instead, Gaga was posing over the Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park, which hosted the Chicago Mariachi Festival Sunday afternoon.

The Mariachi Heritage Foundation and the media were quick to jump on Gaga's post.

"Thank you again for helping us make history! #GagaHasMariachiPride." the group joked on Facebook.

Gaga, a fervent supporter of gay rights, has since taken to Twitter to assure fans the post was no mistake.

"I am proud in general and did not mistake anything," she tweeted. "I spent the entire day riding around the city seeing people celebrate."

Gaga was in town after weekend performances with Tony Bennett at Ravinia. ChicagoPride.com was told Gaga was spotted Saturday at Chicago Diner in Boystown.
