Michael Sam says he'll keep fighting to make his dream of playing in the NFL come true.

The 24-year-old Sam is the first openly gay player to be drafted by the NFL. But he was cut by the St. Louis Rams before the start of the season. He then joined the Cowboys' 10-man practice squad, where he stayed for seven weeks before being let go.

In a video for a promotional campaign for the Angelina Jolie-directed film Unbroken, Sam discussed his personal triumphs and challenges.

"When I came out several months ago, I thought it would be easy. All I wanted to do was just play football. But it was much bigger than that," Sam said in the 2-minute video.

"When you get drafted, you gotta kiss someone that you love, and I did," he said of the controversial kiss between him and boyfriend Vito Cammisano.

Despite being without an NFL team, Sam said he was not ready to give up just yet.

"I'm not afraid to continue on this journey trying to make an NFL team," he added. "I'm not going to let this discourage me. I'm not gong to let this break me down."
