'Dining Out for Equality' funds Equality Illinois' ongoing fight for LGBT equality

Chicago, IL - Equality Illinois' Dining Out for Equality is Thursday, Oct. 2 this year, just a month before the important general election and then the return of the legislature for its fall session.

Participants of Dining Out for Equality will dine and/or drink at LGBT-supportive restaurants, and a significant portion of the bills will be donated to Equality Illinois, the state's oldest and largest advocacy organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Illinoisans.

"The urgency of our work with the upcoming election and legislative session should encourage diners to take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy a nice meal and, at the same time, contribute to the continued fight for LGBT equality," said Michael Nordman, Director of Development for Equality Illinois.

"We have much work to do to ensure that all members of our community have their rights protected," Nordman said. "The money we raise will immediately be put to use to ensure that all members of our community are treated equally."

Diners are encouraged to make reservations, as the participating restaurants are often quite busy on Dining Out for Equality night. Please mention Dining Out for Equality when making the reservation and again at the restaurant.
