Woman sexually assaulted in Boystown alley on Monday afternoon

Chicago, IL - Chicago Police have charged a Back of the Yards man with sexually assaulting a woman in a Boystown alley.

Marcus Lynch, 20, of the 4700 block of South Loomis Boulevard, has been charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault with a weapon and one count of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to DNA Info

The suspect was caught on a nearby CTA surveillance camera near the scene. He is expected to appear in bond court Wednesday.

Update: Lynch was ordered held without bail Wednesday. According to Assistant State's Attorney Pierina Infelise, Lynch was positively identified by the victim and admitted what he had done to detectives and another person. A latent print matching Lynch's was also found on the truck in the garage where the incident occurred.

The assault happened Monday at about 4:25 p.m. as the 22-year-old woman walked southbound in an alley at 3500 N. Halsted, behind the former Brompton Auto Body. The victim told police she had bought a pack of cigarettes at the Circle K gas station at Halsted and Addison before walking through The Alley

The woman was threatened with a knife as the man said, "Don't do anything, I'll slit your throat," according to police. The offender then warned, "I know where you live."

The man stole the victims' wallet and iPhone, which was also used to track him down.

The woman sought help after the attack at a nearby Caribou Coffee and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital.
