Chicago's Richard Mathews to to portray a new character from Season Two of 'Boystown', due to hit bookstores next month.
Chicago, IL -
Last month Chicago author Jake Biondi held a photo contest looking for new faces to represent the characters in promotions for his new book series, "Boystown," which is due to release its second installment this spring. Even after selecting the five contest winners, Biondi continued to receive submissions, and he is excited to welcome Chicago's Richard Mathews to the team to represent David Young, a new character appearing in Season Two.
"David Young is a great, complex character and I am excited to see what Jake Biondi has in store for him in Season Two of 'Boystown,'" Mathews said. "I am eager to work with the other members of the 'Boystown' team to continue to promote the books and, hopefully, bring 'Boystown' to television."
Mathews was born and raised in Puerto Rico, just a couple miles from the Atlantic coast. After a distinguished member of Chicago's LGBT community invited Mathews to one of his events last year, Mathews fell in love with the Windy City and decided to make the move to Boystown. Here in Chicago, Mathews works as a consultant for a production company, does both ballroom and go-go dancing and is currently working on an all-male dance review.
"The idea of being part of this city in a more out of the ordinary way excite me," Mathews told ChicagoPride.com. "I'm having a great time here in Chicago and if my experiences and personality can add something good to Jake's work, then why not?"
David Young, the character Matthews will represent in all upcoming promotions, picks up where Season One of "Boystown" left off: with a bang. Biondi gave ChicagoPride.com an exclusive sneak peak at Young, a physical therapist who helps with the recovery of one of the people who is shot at the exciting close of Season One. According to Biondi, Young figures prominently into Season Two and "ends up romantically linked with one of the book's main characters."
"Richard is a sweet, kind, handsome man, who brings great energy and enthusiasm to our team," Biondi said of Mathews. "David Young is an important new character who arrives in 'Boystown' in Season Two and Richard brings him to life in all the right ways."
Season Two of "Boystown," Biondi's Internet-serial-turned-novel following the lives of several characters in Chicago's gayborhood, is due to hit shelves next month. Check out his website jakebiondi.com to keep up-to-date as new information is released.
