Chicago-based Halsted Vodka’s success has allowed support for more than 20-local LGBT causes since launching in October 2012

Chicago, IL - Halsted Vodka: The Spirit of the Gay Community has expanded its brand statewide and more broadly in Chicago following a switch to a new distributor, Stoller Wholesale Wine & Spirits, Inc., on Feb. 18.

Named for North Halsted Street in Chicago's Boystown neighborhood, 15-percent of the value created by Halsted Vodka -equity as well as profits- is being donated to support LGBT community building and human rights.

"It was so important to us that people realized that every time they had a sip of Halsted Vodka they were helping give back to our community," Lee Keyes of Halsted Vodka told ChicagoPride.com. "That message has gotten out because of the strong partnerships we've developed with so many amazing groups. Of course, it also helps that the quality of the vodka itself has made a strong impression on people."

Halsted Vodka was developed with the help of Halsted Street bartenders and customers who were invited to take part in the development of the brand, including design, community-giving targets, and blind taste tests. Chicago-based Halsted Vodka is micro-distilled in small glass stills and was awarded a Gold Medal at the most recent San Francisco World Spirits competition.

Launched in October 2012, Halsted Vodka is available in over sixty LGBT and LGBT-friendly venues throughout the Chicago area.

"Now we are building on that success by making Halsted available throughout Illinois... and hopefully soon nationwide as well," said Keyes.

Halsted Vodka has provided support for more than 20-local LGBT causes and community projects, including the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus, The Legacy Project and Pride Plays and Films.
