AIDS Legal Council of Chicago Executive Director honored by AIDS Foundation

Chicago, IL - ALCC's long-time Executive Director, Ann Hilton Fisher, was honored on November 7, 2013, at the AIDS Foundation of Chicago's (AFC) Annual Meeting with the Impact Award.

According to AFC, this award is giving to someone who has shown "incredible leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS over the years." President and CEO of AFC, David Ernesto Munar, said, "Ann's stewardship of AIDS Legal Council of Chicago over the past 16 years has fostered an organization that provides irreplaceable legal services for people with HIV. She has impacted the lives of tens thousands of people with HIV through her years of service to the HIV community, and helped people across Illinois and the nation through her public policy and advocacy work." AFC's Annual Meeting and Donor Reception was held BMO Harris Auditorium. Ms. Fisher received two standing ovations from the crowded auditorium for her decades'-long dedication to improving the lives of people with HIV and their families through her legal advocacy and public policy work.

Founded twenty-five years ago, ALCC uses the power of the law to provide to provide health, dignity, and stability for people with HIV and their families. The Council provides free direct legal services to people in need, educates the public about HIV-related legal issues, and advocates for social policies that ensure fair treatment for all people affected by HIV.
