Halsted Halloween Parade takes on Twisted Circus theme

Twisted Circus: Halsted Halloween Parade, Thursday, Oct. 31

Chicago, IL - The legendary Halloween Parade on Northalsted goes under the big top this year for a twisted take on the circus theme.

Now in its 17th year, the annual event will kick-off at 8 p.m. and will travel along North Halsted St. from Belmont to Addison in Boystown on Thursday, Oct. 31.

Organizers tell ChicagoPride.com that the parade route will be filled with circus sideshows ranging from acrobats to aerialists and fire-eaters to freaks.

New this year is the crowning of costume contest winner before the parade start. Finalists and winners will be chosen prior to the parade kick-off. Winners in each of the five categories will will be invited to ride a float through the parade route.

Costume categories include: Drag, Group, Original, Scariest and Pet.

Winners in the costume contest will receive prize packages valued at more than $2,000.00, including certificates to local businesses and overnight getaways. Registration is free and opens at 6:30 p.m. on the corner of North Halsted and Belmont.

The Halsted Halloween Parade is sponsored by the Northalsted Business Alliance and draws thousands of participants and spectators to the Lakeview neighborhood.

Space Park Spooktacular, Sunday, Oct. 27

Also returning for its 5th year is the Space Park Spooktacular, which will take place on the neighborhood lot at 815 West Roscoe on Sunday, October 27 from noon to 3 p.m. The kid friendly event features arts and crafts and activities aimed at the 12 and under crowd, including games, activities, special performances and a costume contest.
