CATHY RICHARDSON may be best known nationally for her portrayal of Janis Joplin in the original cast of the off-Broadway musical hit Love, Janis. Recognized for her strong voice and eclectic style ranging from gospel, jazz, blues and rock, Richardson has recorded six CDs. Her voice and style are impossible to duplicate and even harder not to enjoy.

POWDER arrived on the Los Angeles music scene in 2001 and since that time they have received numerous awards including "Best Rock/Pop Artist" and "Best Live Show" at the 2001 Los Angeles Music Awards. In 2005, the band received nominations for "Best Rock CD," "Best Rock Video," "Best Live Performance" and "Best Female Vocalist" by the LA Music Awards, just to name a few. In addition to their obviously entertaining music, POWDER always manages to keep their live performances interesting, whether appearing onstage as femme-bots or 10-foot tall aliens. The group has released several singles in both the United States and the UK and recently made their international television debut by appearing on Playboy's pay-per-view program "Night Calls." Since then, they were invited by NBC to perform at the PROMAX television conference in LA and accepted Clear Channel's invitation to perform at the Download Festival in Donington, England last June. POWDER'S song, "Adore Me" was chosen as the theme song for the WNBA by ESPN and was played on several television stations, as well as at every game for an entire season.
8:00 p.m. August 12 at the Addison Stage
Big Brother and the Holding Company, with Special Guest, Cathy Richardson will be singing Janis Joplin's classics for the Summer of Love 40th Anniversary. Big Brother evolved out of the San Francisco rock scene of the 1960s where Big Brother was in the forefront of the psychedelic music movement. The band was formed by Peter Albin, Sam Andrew, James Gurley and Chuck Jones in San Francisco. The band was also home to legend Janis Joplin for some time as well. Big Brother and the Holding Company played from their heart and soul, always aiming to connect with the audience. Today you can still see and experience the band recreating themselves and delivering a dynamic show all over again.
