Chicago, IL - Crowded streets, delicious food and endless shopping marks the onset of the 26th annual Northalsted Market Days street fair held Saturday and Sunday, August 11 and 12 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tens of thousands people from all around the country flock to Market Days each year to experience the largest two-day street fair in the Midwest.

Market Days, which is consistently considered one of Chicago's premier street festivals, has become famous for the wide array of food and arts and crafts vendors that it attracts. Retailers from across the country apply for the privilege of showing and selling their unique merchandise to the vast and upscale crowd. On average, Northalsted Market Days® features 400 food and arts & crafts vendors.

In addition to the vendors whose booths line the streets of North Halsted, the street fair also hosts an exclusive entertainment line-up. Throughout the two day period there will be over 40 different performances on four different stages. Headlining this year's Market Days will be dynamic recording artist Taylor Dayne, in addition Cathy Richardson, Powder and Big Brother & the Holding Co. featuring Cathy Richardson will also be performing. The combination of local talent and national headliners guarantee a weekend of some of the best live entertainment in Chicago.

The festival will take place on North Halsted between Belmont (3200 North) and Addison (3600 North). The event spans six city blocks, has 17 different entrances along with four separate stages for entertainment throughout the two day festival. Market Days, sponsored by Bud Light, is presented annually by the Northalsted Area Merchants Association (NAMA) and a $5 voluntary donation is recommended at the gate.

Since parking is limited in areas surrounding the festival, it is recommended that public transportation be used to get to the event. The CTA Red Line "L" (Belmont, Addison stops) or Brown Line "L" (Belmont stop) are conveniently located a few blocks from the festival. POWDER arrived on the Los Angeles music scene in 2001 and since that time they have received numerous awards including "Best Rock/Pop Artist" and "Best Live Show" at the 2001 Los Angeles Music Awards. In 2005, the band received nominations for "Best Rock CD," "Best Rock Video," "Best Live Performance" and "Best Female Vocalist" by the LA Music Awards, just to name a few. In addition to their obviously entertaining music, POWDER always manages to keep their live performances interesting, whether appearing onstage as femme-bots or 10-foot tall aliens. The group has released several singles in both the United States and the UK and recently made their international television debut by appearing on Playboy's pay-per-view program "Night Calls." Since then, they were invited by NBC to perform at the PROMAX television conference in LA and accepted Clear Channel's invitation to perform at the Download Festival in Donington, England last June. POWDER'S song, "Adore Me" was chosen as the theme song for the WNBA by ESPN and was played on several television stations, as well as at every game for an entire season.

Big Brother and the Holding Company, with Special Guest, Cathy Richardson will be singing Janis Joplin's classics for the Summer of Love 40th Anniversary. Big Brother evolved out of the San Francisco rock scene of the 1960s where Big Brother was in the forefront of the psychedelic music movement. The band was formed by Peter Albin, Sam Andrew, James Gurley and Chuck Jones in San Francisco. The band was also home to legend Janis Joplin for some time as well. Big Brother and the Holding Company played from their heart and soul, always aiming to connect with the audience. Today you can still see and experience the band recreating themselves and delivering a dynamic show all over again.
