Police search for Lakeview mugger wearing clown mask

Chicago, IL - Chicago Police are searching for three men who they say are behind two recent armed robberies in the Lakeview neighborhood. 

In both early-morning incidents happening on Sept. 21, the trio approached and robbed the victims of their cell phones, money, purses and wallets at gunpoint.

The first incident reportedly happened at about 2:15 a.m. on the 700 block of West Melrose Street in Boystown. Another happened about 30 minutes later in the 3100 block of North Clifton Avenue, according to police.

In one case the victims were ordered to kneel on the ground. One person substained a bruise after reportedly being struck by the gunman, who is said to have been wearing a clown mask to conceal his identity. 

The offenders are described as black men, possibly in their 20s, who stood between 5 feet, 8 inches and 6 feet, 1. Police said all three wore hooded sweatshirts with one of the offenders wearing a clown mask and another may have been wearing a ski mask or scarf to conceal his identity.
