Chicago, IL -
Commuters using the Chicago Transit Authority's Belmont station should expect delays beginning today as work begins on a 530 million dollar project to rebuilt the Brown Line.
Delays are expected on the CTA Red, Brown and Purple Express as one track northbound has been taken out of service at Fullerton and Belmont to allow reconstruction of the station platforms.
CTA President Frank Kruesi says there will be no way to avert delays completely during the construction period expected to last through late 2009.
About 185 thousand riders use the three lines each weekday.
