American Idol alum Adam Lambert is coming to the fifth season of Fox's Glee.
Co-creator Ryan Murphy broke the news Wednesday on Twitter.
"I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall," Ryan tweeted.
Lambert replied, "I'm so excited!"
Murphy offered no other details.
The 31-year-old singer is best known as the runner-up from American Idol season 8, losing to Kris Allen in the finale.
Lambert, who is openly gay, has plenty of on-air experience but his only television acting credit was a cameo on Pretty Little Liars last season.
Glee returns Thursday, Sept. 19 at 9/8c on Fox.
