Featuring the 'Brokeback Martini'

We're in the midst of the movie awards season - and no awards event is bigger than the Academy Awards taking place this coming weekend. In celebration of what simply must be the 'gayest' Oscars ever, queers all over the country will be hosting and enjoying Academy Award parties. Delightful gourmet nibbles will be served, shiny designer shirts will be worn and, of course, delectable cocktails will be consumed.

This year's Academy Awards is so gay, there should be a drinking game where you have to down a fancy cocktail every time a movie featuring a gay theme, gay character, gay director or gay musician is featured on the show - everyone would be wasted by the time the best actress award is announced!

For those queers who simply must have the perfect cocktail to go along with their perfect Oscar celebration, here is a list of lovely recipes to go with some of this year's more outstanding Academy Award nominees.

These recipes were actually sent, along with full bottles of yummy SKYY vodka to the nominees that correspond with the cocktails. Reese Witherspoon got a bottle of SKYY Berry to mix up her SKYY Man In Blackberry and Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Williams received bottles to make their own SKYY Brokeback Martinis.

The nominees have been announced and the Academy Awards show is about to begin... which are your top picks?

When it comes to movies, it's okay to have more than one favorite. And when it comes to flavors, you can't be blamed for wanting to try them all.

Vote for your favorite films by selecting and sipping the corresponding cocktails detailed in these great recipies below!

SKYY Good Night, and Good Vanilla - (Good Night, and Good Luck)

Show your support for good conquering evil with this concoction. With a flavor that's as strong as Edward R. Murrow's quest for the truth, this cocktail will help you sign off with style.

1.5 oz. SKYY Vanilla

½ oz. Frangelico

½ oz. Triple Sec

Splash of Cream

Pour SKYY Vanilla, Frangelico and Triple Sec over rocks in a low-ball glass. Add a splash of cream.

SKYY Orange Crash - (Crash)

This bright burst of flavor is much more harmonious than the racial tensions explored in this year's best nominated film, Crash. Enjoy with a friend and spread love for thy neighbor.

2 oz. SKYY Orange

2 oz. orange juice

1 oz. triple sec

Splash of lemon-lime soda

Serve in a tall glass over ice with an orange garnish.

SKYY In Cold Berry Cosmo - (Capote)

Though it's definitely a lesser offense than the crimes chronicled in Truman Capote's In Cold Blood, passing up this treat would still be misdemeanor. Like Capote's book, this cosmo's a masterpiece.

2 oz. SKYY Berry

1 oz. triple sec

Splash of red cranberry juice

Lots of fresh lime juice

Shake it all up with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Top with a squeeze of fresh lime.

SKYY Melonade of a Geisha - (Memoirs of a Geisha)

Any good geisha knows it takes more than well-done makeup and pretty robes to win fans. The talented geisha embodies elegance and is strong even when she's the most subtle. You'll find this cocktail equally understated and doubly seductive.

1 oz. SKYY Melon

2 oz. pineapple juice

1/2 oz. grenadine

Serve over ice in a rocks glass, garnished with an orange slice. Or, enjoy chilled as a shot.

SKYY Brokeback Martini - (Brokeback Mountain)

For a drink that's more at home on a bar than on the range, celebrate the pure spirit of the west with a chilled SKYY Martini.

2 oz SKYY vodka

1 dash Cinzano Dry Vermouth

1 dash Cinzano Sweet Vermouth

Combine ingredients with ice in a shaker. Shake well. Twist with a lemon peel over the glass. Strain martini into the glass over the twist.

The SKYY Man in Blackberry - (Walk the Line)

Sip this blackberry martini while listening to the Man in Black. Dark and luscious like his music, it's the perfect compliment to Walk the Line.

2 oz. SKYY Berry 3/4 oz. Chambord

Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker and shake.

Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a berry.

SKYY Citriana Cosmo - (Syriana)

Bright and bold, this refreshing cocktail is as charged as the politics in this year's best screenplay nominee, Syriana.

2 oz. SKYY CITRUS

1 oz. triple sec

Splash of red cranberry juice

Lots of fresh limejuice

Shake it all up with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Top with a squeeze of fresh lime.

Enjoy! (And please remember to drink responsibly!)
