Washington, D.C. - ABC News' Robin Roberts was worried her historic interview with President Obama about his support of gay marriage would bring her own sexuality to the forefront.

It's well known around ABC News headquarters in New York City that Roberts has an attractive girlfriend, Gawker reported.

The general feeling in media circles is that Roberts got the big interview because she is a family friend, she is a Christian, she is female, she is black, and she's a lesbian, Gawker said.

"Obviously they picked [Roberts] because she is black and gay," one insider told Gawker.

Roberts reportedly thought the interview would bring focus to her own sexuality, something she's been able to navigate since her career at ESPN.
