Kevin Clewer Murder Remains Unsolved One Year Later

Chicago, IL - Today marks one year since Kevin Clewer was found dead in his Lakeview apartment.

Friends and family gathered Wednesday night in Lakeview to honor Kevin in a candlelight vigil. Despite a $20,000 reward offered by his family last May, there has been no break in the case and his murder remains unsolved.

On March 24, Clewer was found dead by his father in his apartment bedroom in the 3400 block of North Elaine. Clewer was naked and stabbed in the back more than 40 times.

Last summer Chicago Police released a composite sketch of a suspect using the name "Fernando." The suspect is described as a Male White Hispanic, approx. 25 years old, 5' 7" tall, slim / athletic build, speaks with a Hispanic or European Spanish accent. (view composite sketch)

Anyone having information about this case, who might have seen Kevin on the night of Tuesday March 24th or know information about "Fernando" should contact the Chicago Police at 312-744-8261 and refer to Case # HK-259944.

A website (http://www.4chicagokev.com) has been set up for information regarding Kevin.

Chicago Police continue to say the killing of 38-year-old Brad Winters shares no physical evidence with the Clewer murder. Winters, a theatre director, was found stabbed to death on August 31st, 2003 in his apartment in the 500 block of West Beldin. Winters was also found naked and stabbed multiple times in the back.
