If NJ voters decide gay marriage, the battle could cost millions

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie wants to dodge the gay marriage issue and let voters decide, a possibility that might cost millions of dollars.
On top of the additional bureaucratic cost of printing ballots, gay rights supporters and opponents said that ads for and against would be costly.
The New Jersey Herald reported that groups spent $83 million on ads for and against gay marriage in California.
Polls show that a majority of New Jersey voters support gay marriage, but gay groups said that a ballot initiative is not about who has the most support.
"A referendum reflects which side can corrupt the political system with more money," Garden State Equality chairman Steven Goldstein said.
