Concord, N.H. - Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum -- who has said that the existence of gay marriage threatens his own straight marriage -- was booed when he tried to compare same-sex marriage to polygamy during a campaign event in New Hampshire.

Santorum was speaking to a crowd of 200 people at New England College on Thursday night.

A young man stood up and said that gay marriage should be legal. It is, in fact, legal in New Hampshire.

"Are we saying that everybody should have the right to marry?" Santorum asked, according to CBS News.

Several people in the audience shouted "Yes!"

"So anybody can marry multiple people?" Santorum asked. As the crowd growled, Santorum said, "OK, maybe we can't do this. We're going to have a civil discussion or move on to another question."

Santorum repeated his belief that God made men and women to reproduce together and moved on.

Santorum lost the Iowa Caucus by just 8 votes to Mitt Romney, but Romney is expected to do better next week in New Hampshire, which is more liberal and close to Romney's home state of Massachusetts.
