Alice, Texas -
The Alice Independent School District in Texas denies that a gay cheerleader was kicked off the squad because he was caught kissing another boy.
The cheerleader, who is 17, told a local TV station that he was suspended because his kiss was caught on a surveillance camera at Alice High School.
The district said in a statement that the kiss wasn't the reason why he was kicked out, but because of privacy laws, they said they can't disclose the real reason:
"The student and parents are clearly aware that the student was not removed from the squad for kissing another student at school," the district said.
The district said that cheerleaders are required, however, to adhere to a higher code of conduct than other students.
