2004 AIDS Run & Walk Chicago
Fri. August 20, 2004 12:00 AM
Saturday, September 18, at Randolph Street and the Lakefront
Chicago, IL -
This year's AIDS Run & Walk Chicago (Event Details), to be held on Saturday, September 18, will boast new changes including easier ways to participate and raise money. They are:
• New Online Fundraising: Individuals or teams who register online at www.aidschicago.org can now create their own online "Personal Pledge Page." These pledge pages have direct links that can be sent to family, friends or co-workers to simplify the donation process and allow for much easier pledge collection and solicitation.
• New Location: This year the event will be held at Randolph Street and the Lakefront, a location which offers convenient parking at the Monroe Street and Grant Park garages. (For the last three years the event was held at Columbus and Roosevelt Road.)
• "Community Direct," A New Fundraising Initiative: AIDS service organizations (ASOs) that are members of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago's Service Provider Council can form "Community Direct" teams where 50% of the pledges raised by their teams will be immediately returned to their organizations. (AFC is the Run & Walk's designated beneficiary.) There are already more than 40 Community Direct teams.
Registration materials and team packets for the Run & Walk, as well as more information on the new Community Direct program, are now available at www.aidschicago.org or by calling 312.922.2322.
In addition, registration materials can be picked up at Chicago area New Balance athletic footwear stores, Walgreens and Jewel-Osco stores.
