Talk show host calls move to Chicago "a new beginning"

Chicago, IL - Rosie O'Donnell, who started rehearsals for her Chicago-based TV talk show this week, is buying a home in Lakeview.

The Chicago Tribune reports O'Donnell is under contract to buy a 6,000-square-foot home in Wrigleyville, which is adjacent to Chicago's LGBT neighborhood known as Boystown.

The home is listed for $2.5 million dollars and is currently owned by a top executive of the Oprah Winfrey Network, which will air O'Donnell's new show.

The 49-year-old New York native had previously indicated she'd commute to Chicago for the show's tapings; however, in the October issue of O, The Oprah Magazine, O'Donnell calls her move to Chicago "a new beginning."

O'Donnell came under fire in April for plans to make the Trump International Hotel and Tower her Chicago address while taping her show. She later changed that decision.

O'Donnell, who shares the magazine's October cover with Oprah, also credits her mood improvement to a medical fix.

"I had, like, zero estrogen," she told the magazine. "And since I got some, I've been able to function more normally. I've stopped being so angry."

The October issue of O is on newsstands now.

"The Rosie Show" is taping at the legendary Harpo Studios on Chicago's west side and is set to premiere Oct. 10 on OWN.
