Dick Cheney on gay marriage: "I certainly don't have any problem with it."

New York City - Appearing on Tuesday's episode of The View, Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne stood firm on their support for gay marriage.

"I certainly don't have any problem with it," the former vice president replied when questioned about marriage equality.

The couple's daughter, Mary Cheney, is partnered with Heather Poe and have two children together.

"I think that whatever Mary and Heather decide to do is up to Mary and Heather," explained Lynne Cheney.

"So, you're not against gay marriage," asked Barbara Walters.
"That's right," replied Lynne Cheney.

Dick Cheney agreed, "I think freedom means freedom for everybody and you ought to have the right to make whatever choice you want to make with respect to your own personal situation."

The Cheney's have previously come out for gay marriage, but rarely speak publicly in support of marriage equality. Dick Cheney has said he supported state-by-state regulation of marriage rights.

The former vice president appeared on The View to pitch his new memoir, which has created controversy after excerpts criticized many people from President George Bush's administration.
