Chicago, IL - A Celebration of Life for Indiana State Fair stage collapse victim Christina Santiago will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The memorial will be held at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark, at 1 p.m. It is open to the public.

Santiago, 29, was killed and her partner Alisha Marie Brennon seriously injured on Aug. 13 when strong winds toppled a stage onto fans waiting to see Sugarland perform.

Santiago was the manager of the Lesbian Community Care Project at Chicago's Howard Brown Health Center. She had worked there for nearly six years, and had recently received the center's 2010 Spirit Award.

Howard Brown President Jamal M. Edwards described Santiago as "an instrumental figure in the expansion of our women's health services division as the manager of LCCP and a strong advocate for the LGBTQ women's community."

She had also been named to the Windy City Times "30 Under 30" list in 2007.

In addition to her work at the LCCP, Santiago was the Board Programming Chair at Amigas Latinas.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to several funds created in Santiago's honor: Howard Brown and LCCP are collecting donations (http://www.howardbrown.org/default.asp?id=1900), Amigas Latinas has established a memorial fund (www.amigaslatinas.org) and there is a third fund set-up to go directly to support expenses incurred by the couple (http://www.brennonsantiago.com/donations.html).
