San Francisco, CA - The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) honored Megan Mullally, Clive Barker, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, and the best in journalism, film, television, and advertising Saturday night at the 15th Annual GLAAD Media Awards Presented by ABSOLUT VODKA at San Francisco's Westin St. Francis.

Surprise guest Robin Williams presented a special award to Newsom in recognition of his decision to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. In his remarks, Newsom said, "We wanted to put a human face to discrimination. We didn't want to listen to the pundits, politicians and judges talk in the abstract. We wanted them to look at a life, a narrative, a story. To witness, as we witnessed, these thousands of couples coming together - and their sons and daughters, their grandparents and grandchildren, brothers, sisters, cousins. To watch these families come together. In a country, in a world, where everyone is focused on their differences, isn't it about time we focused on our common humanity, on that which brings us together?"

At the ceremony, Sharon Osbourne presented Will & Grace star Megan Mullally with GLAAD's Golden Gate Award, which honors a member of the entertainment or media community for their outstanding contribution in combating homophobia.

"It doesn't matter who you love, it's that you love," Mullally said in accepting the award. "Who cares if men marry men or women marry women? In San Francisco you don't care, and I applaud that. And I applaud Mayor Newsom for being so brave."

Also at the ceremony, Alan Cumming (Cabaret, Spy Kids) presented award-winning writer Clive Barker (Sacrament) with GLAAD's Davidson/Valentini Award, which honors an openly lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender individual who has made a significant difference in promoting equal rights for the LGBT community.

Hal Sparks (Queer as Folk) hosted the event. Other guests and presenters included: Tippi Hedren (Marni, The Birds), Norman Korpi (The Real World), California State Assemblymember Mark Leno, Kimberly Guilfoyle Newsom, Esera Tuaolo, local journalist Jan Wahl, and New York drag performer, Edie.
