Family Pride Is Going to Disney World

Washington, DC - The 25th Anniversary Year of the Family Pride Coalition promises to be a memorable one. Whether you enjoy camping, cruising, all the fun of Disney or are ready to experience Family Week in Provincetown, we've got something for you.

Family Pride events mix family fun with education and advocacy opportunities geared toward creating a better and more just world for LGBT-headed families.

The Family Pride Coalition will hold its third annual Family Pride Camp Memorial Day Weekend, May 28-30, 2004. The adventure-filled weekend will take place at Fairview Lake YMCA Camp in Newton, New Jersey (70 miles from New York City and 90 miles from Philadelphia).
Whether you're a family of two or ten, Family Pride Camp weekend promises to be a fun and adventurous weekend of community building. Spend time with other LGBT families and allies and take part in a wide array of camp activities, including archery, canoeing/boating, fishing, swimming, frog hunting, pontoon boat rides, basketball, tennis, candle making, wall climbing, bingo, rollerblading, and Appalachian Trail hikes. (Our families will be sharing some camp facilities with other families.)

In addition to the above activities, this year's gathering will include a Friday night campfire, a family square dance and variety show and an ice cream social on Sunday.

June 17-20 Family Pride will be venturing off to Walt Disney World, in Orlando, for a first-time Family Pride Coalition weekend. This event is specially designed for LGBT parents and their families. Visits to Disney’s world-renowned them parks will intermingle with family fun time, including story tellings, brunches, pajama parties and visits from classic Disney characters.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and Conference Center will serve as host for the event. Coronado Springs Resort is arranged around a 15-acre lake, complete with beautiful landscapes, pools, Jacuzzis, a mini-water park and several wonderful dining options.

Early registration will ensure rate and room availability. There will be no on-site registration available for this event.

In July, don't miss the very first gay and lesbian family cruise aboard the brand new Norwegian Dawn. This historic cruise sails out of New York City on July 11th and heads to Pt. Canaveral, Key West, a private island in the Bahamas and Nassau. The Family Pride Coalition and R Family Vacations will host a series of workshops on board. World-class entertainment hosted by Rosie O'Donnell includes Joy Behar (from "The View"), Judy Gold, Esera Tuaolo and Bob Smith.

Saugatuck Family Week 2004 will take place July 17-24, in Saugatuck, MI, and is jam-packed with fun family activities, including beach picnics, family dances, kite flying, sandcastle building, berry picking, a farm visit, campfires workshops and more! COLAGE (Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere will be there providing exciting programming for youth nine years and older.

In August, The Family Pride Coalition will hold the ninth annual Family Week in Provincetown.

Family Week provides an idyllic opportunity for our children to meet other children with LGBT parents, and for parents to meet other parents and share experiences. Because every family has different needs, several activities are planned for each day - your family's schedule can be as full of activities or as relaxed as you choose.
